A traditional Tuscan feel meets vibrant colors and rich textural contrasts at San Michele, where the beauty of our hillside setting is the cherry on top. Each room has its own character thanks to the sustainably-minded use of custom furniture—made by local artisans—and artwork from the Villa Lena Art Foundation. Thoughtful details nod to our fascinating history, from a contemporary take on hand-painted Italian frescoes by our previous artist in residence, Jay One Ramier, to handmade Sicilian dragon-scale tiles in the bathrooms. (These are a nod to the building’s namesake, San Michele, the patron saint who once slayed a dragon on our storied grounds.) This is the place to run a bath, read a book with a view, and leave only to eat a plate of handmade pasta before strolling through our olive groves.
