Open to both hotel guests and the general public, Villa Lena’s Osteria San Michele restaurant is a destination for traditional Tuscan cuisine with a creative, contemporary flourish. Picture all the sensations of a classic Tuscan trattoria—the aroma of pappardelle al cinghiale, the sounds of clinking wine glasses—in a modern, eclectic environment inspired by art, nature, and culture.

More airy and light-filled than the quintessential Tuscan restaurant, Osteria San Michele has windows overlooking Villa Lena’s sprawling woodlands and interiors that complement these surroundings. A pink, blue, and green color palette matches the sunsets and olive groves outside, while reclaimed tiles, vintage furniture, and artwork throughout reflect our enthusiasm for sustainability and the arts.

We welcome all of those exploring this part of Tuscany, not just those staying with us. So even if it is only for one meal, please feel welcome to join us. We take reservations, have free parking and you can even bring your dog!

BOOK THE TABLE

Just a short woodland stroll from Villa Lena’s hotel rooms lies our organic vegetable garden, perched above the rolling green hills and brimming with seasonal bounty.

At Villa Lena, sustainability is woven into every aspect of what we do—and our farm is no exception. Our biodynamic orto thrives without pesticides, relies on irrigated rainwater, and employs only natural methods for pest control and fertilization. Through a closed-loop system, all nutrients and organic matter are recycled back into the very soil from which they came. And in our commitment to minimizing waste, any surplus produce is lovingly preserved through fermentation, pickling, or dehydration—ensuring nothing goes to waste.

BREAKFAST

Breakfast is served from 8am, where guests are invited to enjoy a traditional Tuscan breakfast. To accompany the beverage offering will include specialty coffee from La Cittadella, roasted locally in Pontedera. Additional breakfast items will also be on the menu, including Classic avocado toast with a seasonal twist, French toast with fresh berries and homemade granola with edible flowers and aromatics from the garden. In addition, Villa Lena’s talented in-house pastry chef Beatrice Quadrio will prepare a selection of delicious homemade pastries each morning, alongside freshly baked bread.

LUNCH

Lunch at Villa Lena is a convivial affair. The perfect intermittence to be enjoyed in-between one of the workshops or simply as a break from lounging by the pool. The menu will include selection of fresh seasonal salads, home made focaccia sandwiches, and some international classics you can join by the pool. This expansion of our menu includes international summer classics, like Caesar salad and burgers with fries.

DINNER

As night draws in, guests gather for a convivial dining experience showcasing the unique charm of Villa Lena.

Osteria San Michele is busy developing new menu items, including customizations for guests with allergies, food intolerances, and vegetarian or vegan needs. Join us for familiar Italian favorites with surprising twists, such as stewed artichokes with wild mint, black truffle, and chestnut honey; pecorino soufflé with sage, fava beans, and crispy guanciale; and twice-cooked asparagus with a vegan truffle hollandaise.

WINE LIST

Osteria San Michele’s wine list has been curated by Villa Lena Team in collaboration with wine enthusiasts Michael Sager and Joshua Fontaine of Quixotic. The list consists of wines produced by small local wine makers such as Cosimo Maria Masini, Fattoria Fibbiano who makes organic, natural wines. Alongside you can find more classical profiles and well-known Italian labels like Cantina Antinori. In addition, the list features a selection of Villa Lena’s home-grown organic wines; Villa Lena’s Tutti I Giorni, a vibrant Tuscan red that embodies the carefree creativity and magical stories of Villa Lena in a bottle, and Da Occassioni, a full-bodied Tuscan red, as rich and vibrant as the land of its origin. Also available at the restaurant is a very special sparkling rosé that Villa Lena creates in collaboration with azienda Villa Marcello in Veneto, a family run business that has been making wine for over 600 years.
