Lauren Ellis Matthews – 2016 diary by an ex-resident – 5 of 6
28 Maggio
I sneak into Emma’s room and find abandoned:
Plastic wrapt bergamot tea sachet
Near full bag of short grain rice
Mostly empty bottle of fig perfume
5 centime piece
Eleve color safe shampoo
Things you can do at the villa when barred from your personal space:
Take a bath (if u air dry)
Talk to Paul
Scope the rooms of left-behind grime
As everyone left one by one I took mirror selfies in their empty, undone rooms. I thought about the first day when I toured them with Jen, trying to see if I should drum up feelings of envy. Now these rooms are people. They’ve absorbed the worthiest energies, as Elise mentioned this morning.
With Sophia and Matias in the morning, I realize: I love a Moreno-Bunge at breakfast as I love a Moreno-Bunge at summer. Olives and strawberries and broken salty orange fried eggs and all different courses. Black tea after. Tan, shorts, gold curls, gold body, gold mind and calm – calm – calm ease. Long breakfast legs.
I always thought it was, the more tea the merrier, says Matias.
